So I've been doing custom bouquet paintings for a year now, and I have to say this is one of my favorite things to do through my business. I just love fresh and beautifully arranged flowers! It is indeed a tragedy they don't last forever, but by painting them, I can capture them to be preserved for a long long time.
To see how the painting above was done, keep reading! x
FAQ 1: AM I GETTING A DIGITAL PRINT OR AN ORIGINAL PAINTING?
This is how the process goes: I need a good picture or two of the bouquet and I usually go straight into painting without even sketching. And then I do some light editing on the computer, then personalize it with the initials and wedding date. The final print that arrives in your mail box has a nice thickness to it, with your beautiful bouquet printed in archival ink that doesn't discolor over time—trust me, the print you get is even better than the original, will last longer, and the print quality makes it look like it IS the original painting. Now you just need a frame to match!
FAQ 2: WHAT ABOUT ALL-WHITE BOUQUETS?
I get asked a lot if I can paint monochromatic white bouquets. The answer is yes! All-white bouquets also come out beautiful and subtle, like the one pictured above.
The actual bouquet of fresh blooms is shown below, and the entire process of painting is shown in the video! This is how every bouquet painting is made, so you can remember "just the way you looked that night" ~ (just couldn't help myself)
These paintings aren't meant to be hyper realistic representations of the bouquet; they take advantage of the airy nature of watercolor, resulting in an accurate yet elegantly subtle pieces. The ethereal quality of watercolor is what made me fall in love with it in the first place!
