"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." 1 THESSALONIANS 5:18
It is THANKSGIVING!!!
Thanksgiving is not a religious holiday at all, but I think it reflects where our hearts should be as Christians. Most of us think of family members gathered around a big table, sharing laughs and amazing food when Thanksgiving approaches. And then there may be those who come from a broken family or have experienced a heartbreaking loss recently, those who find giving thanks painful. But as believers we have hope. No matter what we are going through, there is hope in the fact that this world is not our home. And while we are in this world, there is comfort because Jesus himself felt it all. (Hebrews 4:15) We have such a caring Father who not only gave us undeserved salvation but provides our daily mundane needs. He knows our needs.
"For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin." HEBREWS 4:15
Friends, we all have so much to be thankful for...not just because we have friends or family or a table full of food, but because we have salvation we cannot lose. Because this is a short life compared to our eternity in heaven. And that is the reason we are able to choose to give thanks in all circumstances.
Let us literally count our blessings and always be overflowing with gratitude!
